Then I thought, what if I sat down and planned a menu this fall. My mother has always told me to "plan a menu" but I have always been too busy and always choose to "fly by the seat of my pants" thus when the boys would ask me "What's for dinner mom?" my default answer was either stir fried chicken, vegetables and rice, salmon cakes or pasta.
Why bother with meal planning? First and foremost it helps to build variety in the family meal, and it saves you time and money. Two things I have known for years, and this fall I am going to make a big effort to plan at least a week in advance.
